She sat in the bathtub while it filled with water. When she was a child, she had decided that she needed to allow the bathtub to fill with water for the bubbles to achieve their maximum potential. But today she needed to get in the water immediately, after she undressed it was too cold to sit on the edge of the tub and wait.
She laid her head back, on the bottom of the tub. She couldn’t stand the site of her own body. The running water sounded nice from underwater; with her eyes shut she was able to pretend she was at her parent’s house. It seemed as if she took baths all the time when she was younger, with a plastic cup to rinse her hair at the end. No shower, just a tub.
When she hung up the phone, she noticed that they had only talked for 22 minutes but it felt like much longer. She knew she was pushing for arguments, trying to keep him at bay, she was terrified at this point. All of the things that she would never say to him, what if he got bored? What if she got bored? What if he decided she was too much work? What if this was it?
